The Peninsula Shanghai has been crowned the world’s best business hotel by Travel + Leisure. In its December 2012 issue, the US magazine published its list of the best business hotels from around the world, as voted by its readers in the annual World’s Best Awards survey.
The Peninsula Shanghai was also the only hotel in China to make the Top 5 Hotels for Business Worldwide list in 2012.
Thrilled about the award, the hotel’s General Manager Joseph Chong said, “It is a tremendous honor for the Peninsula Shanghai to be recognized as the world’s best business hotel by a highly respected authority on travel, Travel + Leisure. This is one of the most coveted awards in the global travel industry, and it is a testament to the sophistication of our cutting-edge proprietary technology and the ultimate comfort and service standards created by our dedicated team. As we move towards a new calendar year, we are motivated as a team and a family to continue adopting the spirit of the Peninsula Shanghai and endlessly strive to create unique experiences and memorable moments to delight our guests.”
Respondents of the survey rated the hotels on room quality and amenities, facilities for business travelers, location, service standards, restaurants and food, and overall value.
Located in the center of the historical Bund, Architect David Beer and interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon delivered gleaming brass- and-mahogany elevators and 235 guest rooms that combine embossed glass lamps and black-lacquer screens with 21st-century amenities. All come with VoIP phones, portable master control panels, and spa tubs with music and light settings. And just to top it all off, the hotel also has a 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II for guests who want to head to Pudong International Airport in style ($370, with chauffeur).
As a gesture of appreciation to its valued guests for the prestigious award, any guest who books a “Winter Surprise” room package before Dec 25th, 2012 for a stay prior to Jan 31, 2013 will receive a free round-trip airport transfer in the Rolls-Royce.
The Peninsula Shanghai was also rated #23 World’s Best Hotels 2012 overall.
