Luxury hotels are growing in abundance in China, yet this has not deter the latest market entrant.
Billed as the first 5-star German hotel in China, Maximilian Beijing, will open in October.
Located in the Audi World Complex next to the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest), the modern architecture and interior design of the hotel Maximilian Beijing is reminiscent of the sporty and luxury design of Audi cars. The hotel will offer 300 rooms and four restaurants and bars that offer a small world tour: German cuisine in the Paulaner Maximilian restaurant, classic fine Chinese cuisine in the restaurant Palace of spring, hot Chinese food Café Berlin and international dishes in the lounge.
Maximilian Beijing will be managed by the Frankfurt-based hotel group Steigenberger. The German luxury hotel management company has 80 years of experience, but new to the China market. The group is set to bring German hospitality and culture to China.
There are plans for further expansion in China. Steigenberger’s second hotel, the Steigenberger Hotel Shaohai, in Qingdao is slated for a winter 2015 opening. Ten more hotels are in the works. “We are convinced that the Steigenberger ‘quality made in Germany’ model will bring success on the Chinese market”, says Puneet Chhatwal, CEO of Steigenberger Hotels AG. “China is an important focus within our strategy of expansion, and we are delighted to be able to build on our presence in this key global market”.
