Luxury travel retail is one of the fastest-growing markets in retail.
A study by Generation Research estimated that the travel retail market could be 120 billion euros (US166 billion) by 2020. This channel is very important to luxury brands and they are battling for traveling shoppers, many whom are Chinese tourists. The Chinese is expected take 1.7 billion trips and spend $1.8 trillion by 2030, reports Reuters.
Luxury brands are looking at different ways to tap this booming market, including offering exclusive and limited edition items.
Earlier this month, DFS Group partnered with Hermès to offer the Heure-H Rouge Casaque collection of red-strapped watches. This exclusive collection is only available through DFS airport stores and downtown T Gallerias and DFS Gallerias.
The Hermès’ Heure-H Rouge Casaque collection features the iconic letter ‘H’ – the emblem of the House of Hermès. The Rouge Casaque bull-calf strap, available in a single or double wrap-around, is crafted in the leather workshops of La Montre Hermès in Switzerland. Framed by a square stainless steel case in silver or gold plated steel is a white watch dial stamped with a sunburst motif. Or an alternative is a white natural mother-of-pearl dial set with 11 0.09ct diamonds.
