JIA continuously attempts to strike a balance between the old and the new and aims to re-interpret traditional Chinese materials and craftsmanship through modern design and creative thinking from its collaboration with different designers.
In collaboration with National Palace Museum, its String Tea Set, designed by Gearlab, attempts to cross the boundaries between royal artifacts and daily objects and offers an alternative translation on classics from the emperors’ house to modern use.
The tea set is inspired by the Southern Sung Dynasty (1127-1279), string-patterned Celadon Porcelain Zun. The set is made of porcelain, bamboo, cork. The string pattern is not only decorative, it is functional, preventing slipping and protecting from the heat.
JIA means ‘home’ in Chinese.
