Hollywood celebrities were honored in Hollywood last night at the Huading Film Awards, one of China’s top awards show.
The evening was all about celebrating Hollywood celebrities as few top Chinese film stars were in attendance.
Halle Berry, Guillermo del Toro, Orlando Bloom, Jeremy Renner, Charlie Hunnam, and Hans Zimmer were among those who received awards. Chinese-American actress Lucy Liu co-hosted the show with Chinese television personality Olivia Xu.
“Right now, both the Chinese and American film industries are at a very important development phase, and both are facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges,” said Mr Wang Kun, Founder of the Huading Awards. “With the Huading Film Awards coming to Hollywood, it opens a door for Chinese films to the world. This awards show represents an historic first for both nations.”
The Huading Awards shows are held in different locales specifically to gain a wider audience for the Chinese film industry, Wang tells us. Next year the Huading Awards show will be in France, but the show will return to Hollywood again.
While the evening was about celebrating film stars, Chinese haute couture designer Laurence Xu, who is known for adding Chinese materials and design elements, including expensive brocades and complex tapestries to the contours of Western gowns, was there and showed off one of his beautiful designs.
