Shanghai Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2015, which runs from October 15th-23rd, will feature prominent and rising designers in China’s fashion industry.
The bi-annual fashion extravaganza will have an Italian flavor. Italian clothing company Diesel will inaugurate fashion week with a huge party, “Diesel Venice meets Shanghai,” at the Shanghai Exhibition Center.
Fashion designers Alberta Ferretti and Giambattista Valli will show off their new collections and Ermenegildo Zegna will screen its new film, “A Rose Reborn,” directed by award-winning South Korean director Park Chan-wook.
Several of China’s most exciting young designers will show their spring/summer collections, including Jin Chong Yu, Angel Chen, C.J. Yao, and others. Jin Chong Yu’s works have appeared in Elle, Bazaar, and Cosmopolitan, and he’s done design work for Nike, Shanghai Xintiandi, Swatch, Swarovski, and Erdos.
Angel Chen has also been featured in international publications including Vogue UK, and The Evening Standard. Her collection, “The Rite of Spring,” will be the first fashion show of the week and will be presented by SONY.
After being named the first runner up for the Asian Young Fashion Designers Contest at Singapore Fashion Week 2006, C.J. Yao studied fashion design at Central Saint Martins in London. Upon graduation in 2012, she worked for Alexander McQueen. Her designs are “based on developing the ideas of the new aesthetic appreciation of women with contemporary lifestyles and attitudes.”
