A LUXURY furniture manufacturer based in Long Eaton is now sitting pretty in the Far East after opening a flagship store in the heart of Beijing.
Duresta Upholstery, which employs some 200 people in the town, is expanding in China where there is a growing market for its sofas and chairs.
The company has an exclusive distribution deal in place with HK Royal Furniture and already has its goods on sale in the cities of Foshan, Tianjin and Taiyuan.
If all goes well in Beijing, there are plans to open another store in Shanghai later in the year.
Duresta also has aspirations to target other cities in China, such as Chengdu and Hangzhou, having found that there is growing demand for high-quality British-made goods among the increasingly affluent Chinese middle classes.
To increase its presence in the world’s most populous nation, Duresta will be one of a number of UK firms showcasing at Great British brand events across the country this year.
