Luxury brands are highly coveted by Chinese consumers, so are jobs at luxury companies.
A recent survey by the Fortune Character Institute and the Shanghai Donghao Human Resources, and reported in China Daily, reveals the top luxury brands that are attracting talent in China, along with a demographic snapshot of luxury employees.
An estimated 140,000 people work directly in the luxury industry in positions ranging from design, branding and retail. Another 350,000 work in associate industries such as real estate, tourism, and logistics.
According to the survey, the leading reason people change jobs in the luxury industry is “better opportunities.” Salaries continue to rise as the shortage of good talent in luxury retail is leading to intense competition.
Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Rolls-Royce are the top three brands attracting talent. Interestingly, these brands lag in the best-performing employees ranking.
