One of Italy’s most dynamic brands, Car Shoe, has opened a tony new store in Hong Kong, which carries the brand’s classic designs and more modern versions.

Founded in 1963 by Gianni Mostile, who shared a passion for both race cars and hand-made shoes, Car Shoe is famous for its signature moccasin with tiny rubber nub soles.

These extremely comfortable, well-crafted shoes had quite a following among powerful style icons that included Giovanni Agnelli, JFK, Ingrid Bergman, and Roberto Rossellini.

Prada bought a 51 percent stake in Car Shoe in 2001 and just acquired the remaining shares this past September. The acquisition is seen by many as a move to compete with high-end shoemaker Tod’s.

Car Shoe has stores in Milan, Capri, Rome, Singapore, and now, Hong Kong. Its shoes are sold in over 250 boutiques globally.

Hong Kong Store: Shop No. 2043- 44, Elements Mall, 1 Austin Road West, Kowloon, Hong Kong. Phone  852 2196 8163

I’m really happy to find this post because not long ago I went to Rome with my wife and we ended up in Car Shoes, I had no idea that Prada owned that brand, but I can tell you my wife fell in love with those shoes the moment she got in the store. I’m from Spain, and I usually buy in a store called Santa Eulalia, in Barcelona. In our country we don’t have a big amount of stores that I like, that’s why I usually buy in that store, and if I can, from the brand Prada Barcelona. I usually travel to Hong Kong because of my business, so next time I go there Ill buy other shoes for my wife. Just in case you decide to come and visit lovely Barcelona, I’ll leave you the link from Santa Eulalia store, you will love it. http://www.santaeulalia.com/en/
