German luxury lifestyle brand MCM has opened its first flagship store in Beijing, located at the prestigious Shin Kong Place shopping mall. The 200 square meter store has a simple yet sophisticated ambience with a dedicated area for VIP customers, which is now a common trend of luxury retail stores in China.
Not to be missed is the MCM logos inscribed on the gold brass plate curtains and the waterfall-style lamp decor.
The April 20th opening was similar to many recent luxury store launches, marked by ribbon cutting fanfare and attended by celebrities and VIP guests, which for this event included Chinese actress Zhao Wei, supermodel Che Xiao, and Lin Peng, among the several hundred guests.
MCM also introduced the limited edition Beijing Mocha Luxe Exclusive Collection to celebrate the Beijing store opening. The collection of 50 pieces is only available at this location and showcases bags in two kinds of leather and four colors: 20 gold pony hair handbags, 10 silver pony hair handbags, 12 gold cowhide leather handbags with python grain, and 8 orange cowhide leather handbags with python grain. All the handbags have a MCM limited edition label inside with each bag’s serial number inscribed.
To further highlight this special event and to mark the brand’s 35th anniversary, the company built a pop-up gallery at Huamao Square in the city which ran from April 20 to May 3 to showcase MCM’s heritage.
Currently MCM has a total of eight retail locations in China.
