American home furnishings company Ethan Allen has opened its 75th store in China in Haikou.
The 25,000 square foot store, which is shared with Ethan Allen’s partner in China, Markor Home Furnishings, is the vision for the partnership’s “new generation” retail, featuring classical facades and marble interiors, reports Inside Retail Asia. A “new generation” flagship will open later this year in Beijing.
“This is a market that cares deeply about quality and has a passion for classic American style. Needless to say, we feel right at home here,” said Ethan Allen CEO Farooq Kathwari.
The company’s further expansion in China comes as it is reinventing its brand with a focus on introducing new product lines and producing its furniture in North America, where two-thirds of its furniture is already manufactured.
In the last year, Ethan Allen has opened 11 Design Centers in United States, Dubai, and Doha. Over the next year, the brand plans to open 13 more stores with a continued focus on China.
“As an American brand, we draw upon influences from all over the world, which is one of the many things that continue to keep Ethan Allen so relevant all over the world,” Kathwari said.
