Following Burberry’s April launch of its official Tmall store, Estée Lauder launched its online Tmall shop on May 21.
According to China Internet Watch, the Estée Lauder Tmall store’s first day sales were quite robust based on leaked data on Weibo. In fact, sales generated on its first day on Tmall is more than the monthly sales of one offline store.
The Tmall store had 7,941 transactions in its first day with sales estimated at 2.69 million yuan. Customer orders averaged 339 yuan. China Internet Watch noted that Estée Lauder had 3 billion yuan in annual sales in China and with 170 counters, averaging 49,019 yuan per store per day.
