Former international football (soccer) star, David Beckham, has been chosen as the brand ambassador to China for Jaguar. Beckham is hugely popular in China as soccer is very popular in the country.
The partnership will feature Beckham in print and television ads exclusive to the Chinese market. Beckham’s first campaign will be ads for the F-type Coupe, with famed fashion photographer and filmmaker Peter Lindbergh shooting the photographs for the campaign. The print campaign is already appearing in publications and on billboards across China with a television campaign coming later this year, reports Just Auto.
“I’ve always been an admirer of Jaguar – from the styling and design to the feel and roar of the engine, every element feels uniquely British. It’s an honour to support a brand with such an amazing heritage and I look forward to being part of Jaguar’s exciting future in China,” Beckham said of the partnership.
In the future, Beckham will also be featured in campaigns for the XF and XJ models. The XJ model will likely be built in the new Changshu, China factory that is jointly owned by Chery and Jaguar Land Rover. The new factory will be the first full manufacturing operation built outside of England for Jaguar Land Rover.
“We are absolutely thrilled that David will be an ambassador for Jaguar in China. Beckham is a Briton whose achievements mean he has global popularity and he is someone who embodies contemporary British style and sophistication. He is a truly modern, British individual with a genuine passion for design, innovation, performance and driving,”said Bob Grace, Jaguar Land Rover’s managing director in China.
