A Citroën for the Chinese Market

French automaker Peugeot Citroën has been trying to reposition Citroën as an upscale brand and is making a push to win wealthy Chinese.

The company has launched the DS 5LS, a new model of the DS line, exclusively for China.

The new car, produced in Shenzhen, will be available in China in March. Designed for the Chinese market, the new car has a rear trunk, which is out of fashion in Europe, but still in demand in China.

The new luxury Citroën model is expected to compete with Audi’s new A3 sedan, which will launch in China in the spring.

Citroën expects to sell 30,000 DS5 LS this year and plans to launch a sports utility vehicle in China in the second half of the year.
